Why is humor important?

Humour is a kind of emotional safety-valve and it a man cannot laugh at himself he is dead before his death. Someone once wrote that most men die when they are forty but aren't buried until they are seventy. He must have meant the humourless men.

Some men use humour to cover up more serious matters in life, for it is easy to laugh something off instead of facing it.
