What's the difference between east and west?

If a person from west sees something that overwhelms him, he'll write a book about it.

In the dominant Western religious system, the love of God is essentially the same as the belief in God, in God's existence, God's justice, God's love. The love of God is essentially a thought experience. In the Eastern religions and in mysticism, the love of God is an intense feeling experience of oneness, inseparably linked with the expression of this love in every act of living.

What's the difference between east and west?

The eastern world, from River Oder to the Japanese Sea, cannot think in terms of the human individual. The individual as such does not mean anything in that world, he has meaning only as representative of a half-mythical collectivity. To us, on the other hand, the individual means everything, and the collectivity has meaning only insofar as it is represented by valuable individuals. The collective, in these politically immature states, has not yet been tamed to serve the individual. Man is as yet of no value there, nor is humanity; only the State is significant. This is a primitive view, betraying the weakness of the individual who must lean against the mighty collective.
